The Georgia Aquarium

We spent the weekend in Atlanta and went to the Georgia Aquarium. What an amazing place! It's the largest aquarium in the world, and the only one in the Western world with Beluga whales and Whale Sharks. It's also the only aquarium in the world with a Manta Ray. The ray currently has a wing span of "only" 9 feet; at full grown, it will be somewhere around 24 feet. Amazing.
There are 4 Whale Sharks as well, which are enormous but not even half-way grown either. At maturity, they will all be the length of a typical school bus (and NOT the short kind!). And this tank at the GA Aquarium is large enough to hold SIX of them, full-grown, plus the Manta Ray, and all the other thousands of smaller fish. Needless to say we were pretty impressed.

What made the trip even better was the fact that Grammy, Pop-Pop, Aunt Kristy, Aunt Kim, Mari Cagle, Nate, and Quinn all met us at the aquarium and spent the day with us. Hudson had a great time hanging out with his cousins and learning about marine life. After touring the aquarium, we went back to our hotel room next door and had a little birthday party for Pop-Pop. We were supposed to stay an extra day and visit Kristen's long-time friend, Drew, and then watch the Super Bowl and stay the night at Kim and Britton's house. But Kristen got sick Saturday night and we had to cut our trip short and come home Sunday. All in all though, it was a great trip. We can't wait to go back!
